Don't miss this opportunity. become knowledgeable about what is really happening right under your feet and how it is being disregarded by the oil and gas lobby, the Railroad Commission of Texas, powerful politicians throughout our State and even some of our own county officials. BRING YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS

Upper Trinity Groundwaterr Conservation District Board Member, Michael Berkley, will bring us up to date on the ever increasing demands of groundwater usage by commercial interests, the problems the UTCGD is having with salt water disposal wells, the ongoing application with the Railroad Commission of Texas by the Fenco Contractors Group, LLC to build a solid waste Stationary Treatment Facility for drilling fluids and other wastes on highway 59 West of Saint Jo.

*WHEN: Thursday, June 24, 2010

*TIME: 7:00 – 9:00 PM

*WHERE: Forestburg Community Center, 16617 FM 455, on the northwest corner of the intersection of FM 455 and FM 677.

This will be your opportunity to hear first hand from an individual who is on the firing line working to protect the groundwater interests of property owners in Hood, Montague, Parker and Wise Counties. The directors of the UTGCD do not have a easy job because of the fact there are other state agencies and private interests working against common sense conservation of groundwater. At this time Montague County does not have any of the problems that are occurring in Parker and Wise Counties, but at the current unabated usage it is only a matter of time before our county joins the growing list of groundwater trouble spots.

Montague County politics is back in the news again with the upcoming Primaries scheduled for March 2nd. Early voting will extend from Feb.16 through Feb. 26. The MCPOA and UCCRWMA will host a 'Meet and Great' evening for candidates seeking the various offices. As always, these are important to both you and Montague County. Mark your calendar!

     *When:  Thursday, February 18, 2010
     *Time:    7:00 - 9:00 PM
*Where: Saint Jo High School Domed Gymnasium, one block south of the Dairy Queen.

This will be your opportunity to meet candidates running for county offices, hear reasons why they want to represent you and to ask questions concerning issues of interest to you. Voting is a privilege not available in many parts of the world. Use this as an opportunity to make your self- heard in the March 2 Primary and November General Elections. Think about what just happened in Massachusetts on January 19, 2010. It proves once again your votes do count.

Mr. Jim Gafken, who worked 42 years in 40 different countries as a petroleum engineer for Exxon Mobil, will walk us through start to finish on oil and gas wells. The water level in your area has already been affected.
